Rebranding the Rochester International Film Festival

In the Spring of 2023 we hosted filmmakers, organizers and the RIFF board of directors at our old Flower City Studios location for their festival After Hours party. Afterwards, the President of RIFF, Marilyn Rosché, approached us about updating and modernizing the RIFF brand and website. At that time, the Rochester International Film Festival logo including homage to Movies on a Shoestring (the overarching organization for them) – which, by the way, has an interesting origin story you can now find on their new website.

Moving forward, the RIFF board wanted a more modern logo they could use across all of their marketing efforts. And they wanted a website that was a better reflection of the film festival they’ve been proudly organizing for more than 50 years. With this in mind, we redesigned and built out a website that reorganized the content that was starting to get lost on their old site, featured more film trailers, and made it easier for both festival attendees and filmmakers to find out more information about the festival and other film-related events that RIFF hosts throughout the year. We are currently building out more content regarding how community members can support the festival.

The Rochester International Film Festival board is made up entirely of volunteers; it’s been a pleasure working with them and seeing their enthusiasm both for the film community and the local Rochester community.
